Purchasing .edu Links
A few days ago I wrote How to Build Trusted Links, which caused a few people to email me about purchasing .edu links. There are a lot of companies that sell .edu links, but most of the links will be on student blogs and not the actual university website. Although this can still build trust, search engines are quite complex and can probably tell the difference between .edu links from student blogs and links from the actual university website. So before you purchase links from .edu sites make sure you know what pages they are going to be placed on because ones from the actual university site will probably create more trust.

Personally, I don't think .edu links have any more weight than a regular website does. A PR7 is a PR7. I do think, however, they are more trusted because they have a lot more links than normal sites, but the weight given is still the same for the outbound links.
ResponderEliminarIn the actual SERPs, they may have higher rankings and the trust for SERPs may increase because it's a .edu link, but I don't think any extra weight is given to those linked from a .edu site.
One advantage to .edu pages is that those domains attract a lot of trusted IBLs. EDU spam is getting out of control. Do a Google search for 'ringtones'.
ResponderEliminarCan anyone help me? I have tried and tried to generate more traffic to this site and it seems no matter what I do, we're stuck where we are. It seems like our site where we buy cellphones for recycling should be able to get .gov and .edu links easily, what do you think?
